Long known as the makeup brand designed for sensitive skin, we conducted an entire refresh of the brand identity and its communications. The category, with a dizzying lexicon, a visual sea of sameness and an overall experience often unfriendly to the end user, we strived to simplify it. The brand had multiple subfranchises, each designed and conceptualised in isolation of one another, an arbitrary colour palette, and competing levels of hierarchy. Through united and simplified product navigation informed by segmentation, product intrinsics and a colour palette that spoke to shade, we designed a system that brought a consistent joy back to the brand and the makeup category.
